The Beinke Brothers Band

Sunday 27th 4:00pm

The nucleus of the Beinke Brothers Band is made up of brothers Leo, John and Rob Beinke. Born in the South Australian West Coast town of Cowell, and growing up on the family farm at nearby Narridy Creek, the brothers were surrounded by music from birth. Their parents, both musicians, had a great fondness for the beautiful melodies and rhythms of ballroom dance music. The records of older siblings, along with radio saw an introduction to the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and the Original Fleetwood Mac, among others. Surrounded by pianos, accordions, and a drum kit in the lounge-room. Life changed one Christmas with the arrival of a guitar. From that moment, a life-long obsession was born that saw the boys form their own band Funny Bizzness in Whyalla in 1980. The band played extensively around that time, working on their own take of old blues and rock and roll standards. The early version of the band however, was relatively short-lived, lasting only 3 years before they went their separate ways, Leo eventually settling in Adelaide, Rob in Melbourne, and John remaining in Whyalla.
Now, over 40 years on, the brothers still manage to congregate from time to time in various forms, often courting members of the next generation, still belting out their unique brand of rich, jammy, blues/country infused rock and roll.
Just recently Rob has moved back to SA so there will be many more gigs to come…
The current Lineup includes Craig Fraser on drums and either Jordan Beinke or Ben Timmis on keys (sometimes both)
